The role involves assisting with the collection of evidence, drafting legal documents, communicating with clients, and ensuring that all case details are organized and processed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Preparation:
- Assist in the investigation of personal injury cases by gathering evidence, interviewing clients, witnesses, and experts.
- Organize and maintain case files, records, and evidence.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, and discovery documents under attorney supervision.
Client Communication:
- Communicate with clients to update them on case progress and answer inquiries.
- Coordinate medical records, bills, and other relevant documents between clients and medical providers.
Research:
- Conduct legal research related to personal injury law, case law, and regulations.
- Review and summarize depositions, medical records, and police reports to assist in case preparation.
Document Preparation:
- Prepare and review legal documents such as complaints, settlements, and demand letters.
- Ensure proper filing and submission of documents in compliance with court rules and deadlines.
Settlement and Trial Preparation:
- Assist attorneys in preparing for settlement negotiations and trials.
- Organize exhibits, witness lists, and evidence for trial presentation.
- Prepare discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for documents, and depositions.
Court and Client Liaison:
- File documents with the court, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
- Coordinate with medical professionals, experts, and insurance adjusters to gather case-related information.
Administrative Support:
- Manage calendars for court hearings, depositions, and deadlines.
- Maintain organized records for billing and case management.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree or certificate in paralegal studies, or related field (Bachelor's degree may be preferred).
- Experience: Previous experience in personal injury law is highly desirable.
