Provides timely and accurate medical assessments and injury identification/documentation along with collection of trace biological samples. Meets required on-call time monthly and responds to hospital within one (1) hour. (If travel time is longer, will contact appropriate facility and Forensic Coordinator). Collaborates with providers, law enforcement, Children Services, county prosecutors and survivor advocates. Must maintain chain of custody for all specimens collected during the sexual assault nurse examination and may serve as a medical expert witness during judicial proceedings. Responsible for assessment, coordination, and implementation of case based on the Forensic Nurse Scope and Standards of Practice and Ohio Protocol. Functions in a multifaceted role promoting excellence in the practice of nursing and forensic science. Responsible for maintaining high standards of clinical practice/continuum of care, professional practice development, teamwork, customer relations, ethics and research/performance improvement for sexual assault patients.
- Current State of Ohio Registered Nurse license.
- BLS certification or obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Valid Ohio driver's license.
- Two (2) years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Ability to participate in the on-call monthly schedule.
- Ability to complete the IAFN approved SANE-A and SANE-P didactic course.
- Ability to complete the required clinical rotation and orientation.
