The opportunity
Unity is looking for a Software Developer to be part of Code Quality's (CQ) Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Compliance Team. We partner with developers and leaders to drive strategy and implementation around the use, contribution, and adoption of open source software. If you are someone with a keen interest in optimizing processes, unblocking developers, and developing systems that audit for compliance, we would love to hear from you! In this role, you will be making a key contribution by ensuring compliance of released versions of Unity!
CQ is a mixture of skilled specialists, across a variety of focussed teams, with a holistic knowledge of our codebase and the development knowledge to assist with problems that span the entire product.
This is a full time position based in our Montreal, Canada office.
What you'll be doing
- Ensuring Unity’s use of Open Source Software is accurately recorded and aligns with license requirements.
- Producing reports for customers requiring information on Unity’s Open Source and third party code use.
- Learn a new software development area that involves minimal programming.
- Part of a team that functions as a bridge between legal and development teams
What we're looking for
- Ability to capture data from multiple sources, and work with a high level of integrity and discretion
- Ability to work in a distributed, and collaborative development environment.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) -Fluency in English.
- Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.
- Collaborate with teams across Unity R&D to promote best practices in open source software and licensing.
You might also have
- Track record of engaging with open source projects as an user and / or contributor.
- Familiarity with open source licenses like Black Duck and their terms.
- Knowledge of software (source and binary) scanning tools.
