Overview:
This Patient Navigator evaluates psychiatric patients in the emergency department and makes recommendations to the emergency department Provider as to the disposition of those patients. He/She will consult with attending psychiatrist as needed. This position also evaluates patients throughout the organization as requested or urgently, who are in need of mental health assessments. This position facilitates or recommends appropriate referrals or preventative services, treatment and support for populations with alcohol, drugs and/or substance abuse. The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree (MA, MS, MSW) or Doctorate in Psychology or Social Work
- At least two year(s) experience working with children over 5, adolescents and adults who have mental health, substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities
- BLS through American Heart Association
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) obtained during Orientation.
- Preferred to have Licensure at the independent level in the state of FloridaSkilled in the assessment, diagnosis, and disposition of Behavioral Health patients; knowledgeable about services available to Behavioral Health patients; Computer skills
