Ideal Candidate:
- 2-5 years industry experience in Instrumentation and Electronics within manufacturing or production environments.
- Experience in Preventative/Predictive Maintenance and Condition Monitoring.
- Knowledge of wiring diagrams, loops sheets, P&ID, and instrument diagrams preferred.

JOB SUMMARY
- The E&I Technician is responsible for performing daily tasks as part of a team to ensure safe, productive, reliable, and cost-efficient maintenance of plant equipment and facilities.
- In addition, these positions provide field-level support for reliability efforts, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- The E&I Technician executes condition monitoring of electrical equipment and grounding systems for the overall reliability program of the site.
- This position is responsible for infrared and electrical grounding inspection, analysis, documentation, and reporting results.
- Performs duties in a manner that fosters good teamwork between maintenance and operations and is consistent with our vision of maintenance being a high-performance work team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow all corporate safety culture and procedures.
- Work in a safe manner to prevent injury to self or others.
- Practice safety and housekeeping in the performance of job duties.
- Responds to emergency or unplanned work as needed, including callouts.
- Requires carrying an off-shift pager for one week on a rotation basis with other E&I Technicians. Typically, one week every 4-6 weeks.
- Maintain and repair components on systems, such as PLCs, DCS, pressure/level/temperature transmitters, motors, electrical switchgear, and control valves.
- Works on plant modifications, expense, and capital.
- Execute maintenance tasks in a quality manner to avoid rework.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) components of chemical production processes.
- Perform E&I preventative maintenance procedures and repairs.
- Provide feedback to planners on the quality of job plan detail and accuracy.
- Follow SAP workflow process required for technician craft:
- Document actual time spent on work.
- Close notifications and TECO work orders, as required.
- Document work repair history – detailed description of what was done: “as found, as left”.
- Utilize blueprints, schematics, manufacturer specifications, and manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Recommend changes to existing systems or equipment to improve reliability or accuracy or further optimize the process.
- Recommend tools, equipment, or methods to improve the safety or timeliness of system repairs.
- Communicate any alterations to existing equipment to ensure all site records are current and proper documentation is completed.
- Support and continually apply all Quality Improvement, Safety, Ecology, and Legal Compliance, policies, and procedures.
- Adhere to all GMP Standards/Requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION: Required: High School diploma or equivalent experience. This client recognizes schools accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
KNOWLEDGE/SPECIALIZED SKILLS:
- Familiarity with general I/E maintenance practices, such as instrument selection and proper/safe use.
- Knowledge and experience using PCs, software, e-mail, etc.
- ISA Certified Control Systems Technician Level 1 Certification or higher is preferred, if not must attain certification within 2 years of starting in the position.
- Capability to perform basic mathematics, including fractions, decimals, and minor algebra.
- Detailed knowledge of common automation and control instrumentation, electrical code requirements, and process safety.
- Knowledge of wiring diagrams, loop sheets, P&IDs, and instrument diagrams.
- Prior SAP experience is preferred.
- DCS / PLC experience is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting experience.
- Prior experience with Predictive Maintenance (PdM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), and Condition Monitoring programs with exposure to Process Safety Management (PSM) is preferred.
- Demonstrate competency of Microsoft Office products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Communicate with supervision and Production.
- High sense of urgency.
- Deal effectively with the unknown and unexpected and possess the ability to handle non-routine and emergency activities, such as plant shutdowns, start-up, commissioning, etc.
- Be able to lift 60 lbs., walk, sit, squat, bend, push/pull with arms/legs, body, reach overhead, stoop.
- Available for flexible hours and overtime as required to support Maintenance activities including shutdown both planned and un-planned.
- The process problems include dealing with the technical difficulties of corrosive and hazardous chemicals and operating temperatures up to 2400°F.
