We are seeking a Lead Host / Service Lead to work with our small team. This is a full-time position.

We are a 40 seat restaurant in Downtown Berkeley. We serve high-quality pizza, natural wine,salads & friendly service. We pride ourselves on quality at a fair price. 

Who we are looking for:

Our ideal candidate will be hospitality-focused with a strong background in service. They will be dependable, motivated to learn, committed to working as a team member, possess excellent communication skills, and will be willing and able to provide our guests with authentically warm service each night. This includes taking tables from time to time, dealing with takeout orders, taking take-out orders, bussing tables, making drinks, and assisting servers when needed.  

Role & Responsibilities

• Confidently and warmly running the front door of our busy, small restaurant
• Managing all reservations and guest communications using Resy
• Fostering warm and welcoming relationships with our expanding regular clientele
• Member of the service team ensuring calm and efficient services (seating, turning and clearing tables etc.)
• Learning and assisting in other restaurant management duties
• Passionate about curating fun and memorable dining experiences
• Experience with natural wines is a plus
• Experience with Resy and Toast preferred
• Restocking beverages 
• Cleaning at the end of the night not limited to taking out the trash, cleaning the bathroom etc.
• Attract and maintain core regulars
• Closing the restaurant (locking the doors & setting the alarm)

• A true passion for hosting -- helping to create an environment where people not only have fun but feel relaxed, welcome, and connected
• 3 years experience in a leadership role or as a Maître 'D is highly preferred
• A genuine nature; able to comfortably engage in natural dialogue with guests and diffuse difficult situations
• Integrity and the ability to make decisions on your feet

This is an hourly position with hours ranging from 3pm - till close (usually 10:00 or 10:30 the latest), Wednesday through Sunday. With tips and an hourly wage, the pay is up to $80,000 a year. We rotate full-time employees with PAID Sundays off every 5th or 6th week, we also provide 2 weeks PTO. 

We are also currently expanding; this role could become much more in the future!
