Summary:

The Human Resources Manager will provide daily, front-line human resources consultation and support to the transportation department. The Human Resources Manager will actively support the programs developed by the HR Centers Of Excellence (COE's) in the areas of talent acquisition and retention, employee development, training, performance management, compensation, and benefits. This position will also utilize knowledge of various human resources functions to provide tactical support to line managers, ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations and company policies and procedures. Additionally, the Human Resources Manager will foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the team, monitor HR metrics and trends, and help to standardize HR processes across different departments and business units.

Responsibilities:

  • Interprets and explains human resources policies and procedures to managers and employees.
  • Provides consultative guidance and coaching to managers and employees on human resources-related matters, ensuring legal compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and alignment with corporate policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Utilize knowledge of various human resources functions to provide tactical support to line managers and act as a liaison with other HR functions.
  • Analyze HR data to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with HR team to identify talent gaps and implement effective remediation strategies.
  • Conduct recruiting activities, interviews, evaluate candidates, and assist with the hiring process.
  • Applies established practices and procedures to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance, productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  • Responds to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex cases.
  • Responsible for planning and facilitating the onboarding of new employees; conducts new employee orientation for employees within LSP Transport.
  • Supports the grievance and disciplinary processes by scheduling time with managers and employees on disciplinary matters, recommending appropriate disciplinary action, and drafting letters of discipline and supporting reports.
  • Supports local activities around organizational development, workforce or succession planning, training, performance management or compensation strategies as developed by the broader HR COE's.
  • Work with managers to identify organizational effectiveness issues and develop solutions to improve employee engagement and productivity.
  • Participates in special projects on various human resources topics, identifies business issues and recommends solutions using supporting data, documents methodology, and writes reports on findings.
  • With help from the Total Rewards team, explains and provides information on the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, and other leave programs to employees and managers participate in the interactive process between managers and employees.
  • Completes personnel transactions within the HRIS database and maintains associated records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or related field
  • 7+ years of related experience as an HR Business Partner or in a similar role.
  • DOT HR experience preferred
  • HR Certification (PHR or SPHR) preferred
  • Previous experience utilizing UKG preferred
