Job Description

The opportunity

When you join Multiplayer Services (a division of Unity Technologies) you will help re-invent the way multiplayer games are built, launched and supported. Your team’s focus is on providing innovative service solutions that ease the development and launch of online games for developers worldwide. Multiplayer Service software developers proudly provide a suite of services (ranging from hybrid scaling to SDK development) to enable development and 24/7 live operations for some of the world’s biggest games. At our core, we are passionate about gaming, and keeping developers building experiences and gamers online.

We are looking for a Software Developer who shares our passion for games, hyper-scale automation and distributed systems. As a key member of the team, your role will include developing services, features and functionality within our platform that are highly-scalable, idempotent in nature, and resilient to failure. You will have the chance to collaborate with technical leaders and contribute to projects that push the boundaries of online multiplayer experiences. Here, your work will directly influence the performance and scalability of games enjoyed by millions worldwide, why not come and join us!

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the development of new product features from design to implementation and improve our existing functionality across the full technology stack, using Rust, Go, and C#
  • Produce high-quality code that ensures high performance and reliability under load
  • Contribute to the development of our internal tools and SDKs to improve our service offerings
  • Supporting our platform following the “you build it, you maintain it” mentality alongside your fellow engineers, and cultivate/champion improvements to our services
  • Operate and lead initiatives within a distributed team and collaborate with colleagues both local and remote, cross functionally and within your department

What we're looking for

  • Prior commercial software development experience - we will cross-train capable candidates with experience/expertise in at least one of the desired programming languages: C#, Go, Rust, or C++
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to discuss your ideas and solutions to complex challenges with technical and non-technical collaborators
  • Ability to design and reason about services in a distributed scalable system, including communication patterns, data protocols and reliability
  • Excellent project management skills and communication and collaboration abilities, adept at working with teams across various disciplines
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices and design patterns, a quality first mentality and approach

You might also have

  • Experience with Unity, Unreal, or other game engines
  • Knowledge of cloud services and infrastructure as it relates to game development
  • Exposure to distributed systems development
