Who We Are
MidMichigan Community Health Services is a federally qualified rural community health center (FQHC) based in Roscommon, Michigan. We provide primary and specialty health care for all, with a particular emphasis on access for the underserved. We are intentional in our efforts to retain medical providers by providing adequate administrative and clinical support and schedules that are sustainable for a long-term career with our organization.
We are headquartered in beautiful Houghton Lake, Michigan! Northern Michigan has an abundance of year-round activities for all. Our community offers great fishing, beautiful parks and beaches, ample trails for hiking, cross country skiing, biking, ORVs. With being home to the largest inland lake in Michigan and having a low cost of living, Houghton Lake is an ideal place to live, work, and recreate.
Our organization was founded by concerned residents in the early 1970s to address the severe shortage of primary care in our area. We are still run by a local volunteer board of directors, helping to ensure that our services meet the community's needs.

Who You Are
A fully licensed MD or DO dedicated to providing quality family medicine services across the lifespan to patients in an underserved community. You work independently as well as to contribute actively as part of a high-functioning team. You love the work you do and making an impact on the wellbeing of the communities we serve.

General Summary of Duties
Physician provides a full range of Primary Care services including acute and chronic illness management.
Supervision Received
Reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer
Supervision Exercised
Clinically supervise nurse practitioners, physician assistants, practice staff and technicians who are employed by or contracted by Employer.
Typical Physical Demands
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Requires working under stress.
Typical Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Performance Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of professional medical practice and the ability to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care. Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition and interpreting findings. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining quality services and quality improvement program. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.
Education
- Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of an accredited residency program.
Experience
- Minimum two years clinical experience.
License
- Current state license to practice.
- DEA and state controlled substances licenses also required.

Our community offers great fishing, beautiful parks and beaches and is home to the largest inland lake in Michigan. Exploring Northern Michigan will provide the opportunity to explore wonderful parks, great public beaches which include swimming, playground equipment, barbecues and pavilions. From fishing to disc golf, our local parks are sure to provide fun for all. Additionally, the area provides plenty of hiking and nature trails, and over 200 miles of ORV trails.
