The General (Medical) Clerk III selects from alternative methods and refers problems not solvable by adapting or interpreting substantive guides, manuals, or procedures. Typical duties include: managing patient's health records and history; gathering and filing patient information; processing discharge papers; assisting in a variety of administrative matters; maintaining a wide variety of financial or other records (stored both manually and electronically); verifying statistical reports for accuracy and completeness; compiling information; and handling and adjusting complaints.QualificationsKnowledge of basic medical terminology, familiarity and experience operating a variety of computer software packages (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point) to include military specific computer programs (Web-AEFSS, DMHRSI, ATAAPS, DTS, Essentris, and ACMP). Possess basic computer skills using e-mail, spreadsheets, and word processing. Time management, communication, organization, and customer service skills.Minimum Years of Experience 2Education/Training:High School Diploma or GED with technical experience, appropriate licensing, and certifications A Level II category is required to have at least two (2) years of minimum experience and is required to have at least a minimum education of high school or equivalent as well as technical experience and appropriate licensing. A Level II labor category (also referred to as Journeyman) typically performs required functions independently requiring minimal supervision and oversight.* speak fluent English, be computer literate, possess knowledge of medical terminology, accuracy and attention to detail.* obtain and retain on any required certification or licensure as cited in the contract.* Ability to work across all levels of the organization in a professional manner and speak professional on the telephone.* Personnel shall be a qualified typist of 45 words per minute.* Ability to operate basic office equipment i.e. photocopier, facsimile machine, multi-line phone, voice systems and pager systems, using e-mail, mailing machines, word processing.* Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, have adequate clerical experience, customer service skills and time management.
