PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Sets up and operates flatbed die cutter designed to cut & score corrugated fiberboard material, raw material pile turner and conveyor system to ensure that quality products are safely achieved at a consistent rate of speed in accordance with machine standards. Ensures strong healthy work relationship with other job functions.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operates flatbed die cutter and prints units in a consistent manner as instructed and in line with machine standards, maintains standard operating procedures.
  • Able to make machine adjustments in order to maintain machine at safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Sets up machine to precise measurements and alignments within allotted time for next production run to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Uses computer system to log productivity and remarks pertaining to the current job, reports start and stop times for all personnel working on machine, reports accurate counts of finished goods produced and raw material used.
  • Maintains product flow to accomplish maximum capacity and efficiency.
  • Starts equipment and adjusts machine as required to attain target speeds.
  • Verifies raw materials are correct matching to the job ticket description.
  • Be responsible for the quality of product manufactured, report all issues with equipment, dies, or raw material to supervisor, maintenance department, or quality manager.
  • Checks for scrap and quality defects; continuously checks for quality defects of finished product and document findings.
  • Operates the machine in a safe manner and notifies supervision of any unsafe conditions that might exist.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and assists in repair of machine malfunctions; performs routine cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Assists the Food Safety Team in ensuring that product meets or exceeds GFSI standards for their areas of responsibility.
  • Inspects raw materials and finished goods to make sure they meet quality, safety and GFSI standards.
  • Maintains machines and monitoring measuring equipment within GMP and GFSI standards.
  • Maintains a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and fans in accordance with our 5S system. Performs and follows Preventative Maintenance schedules.
  • Performs Master Cleaning Schedule assigned tasks.
  • Other duties/responsibilities may be assigned.

AUTHORITY: Must have the ability to lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from the supervisor/lead and written instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One year certificate from a college or technical school, or three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education or experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess the ability to utilize software. Must have mechanical ability and skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and other Team members of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read a tape measure, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with arms and hands. Frequently is required to climb, balance, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lifts/moves 25 pounds, occasionally lifts/moves up to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform these functions for a minimum of 8 hours straight (with a 30-minute meal break any other applicable breaks during the shift) on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team member successfully performing the essential functions of this job. Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements as is availability for overtime work if necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to a dusty atmosphere with loud noise, which will require both eye and ear protection. Frequently exposed to vibration and occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. Moving mechanical parts will also be exposed; safety guards have been put in place for the safety of all Team members but during set up, the machine must be broken down and reassembled to complete the next job. Questions regarding such operation should be directed to your supervisor as they arise.
