Practice Details:
The Department of Internal Medicine at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) is seeking a Gastroenterologist to join our team. A candidate with broad training in Gastroenterology is required. Those with additional training in subspecialty areas will be welcome.
The successful candidate will be working alongside two other gastroenterologists providing out-patient and inpatient consultation services. The position offers a unique blend of community practice and academic opportunities. Patients have diverse pathology, and there is the opportunity to develop more subspecialist services, eg., Capsule Endoscopy. UHNBC is fully equipped for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound. There is a GI motility, liver elastography, and fecal transplant service. Opportunity exists for an academic appointment with UBC Northern Medical Program at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC).
The successful candidate is expected to participate in Internal Medicine call rota (about 1/7 or less) as well as participating in Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) rotations.
UHNBC serves both the immediate population of Prince George (approx. 87,000) and is a referral centre for outlying communities (total population approx. 400,000). It is the main teaching centre for medical students in the Northern Medical Program (NMP) and provides teaching for University of British Columbia residents in several specialties.
