Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, Quality & Transformation is responsible for providing expert guidance, advice, program models, and education strategies to the corporate, operational, and clinical leaders across Northern Health in support of incorporating Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) into Northern Health’s (NH’s) culture. Serving as an advisor of equity and human rights issues, the successful candidate is deeply committed to creating inclusive spaces for everyone. The Director is responsible for developing, managing, promoting, and leading an inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility focused strategy throughout the organization. The Director collaborates with programs, departments and/or leaders across the organization to support the incorporation of key policies, perspectives and frameworks into core systems and practices across the organization. The Director guides individuals, teams and the organization as a whole to embed the guiding principles within these relevant frameworks into decision-making processes and strategic planning, with accountability to Northern Health Executive and Board of Directors. Starting salary will be approximately from $116,591 to $145,739 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications
Master's Degree in Intercultural Communication, Anthropology, Sociology, Healthcare (e.g. Nursing) or a related field plus ten (10) years of recent, related experience working in the Diversity field and education, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships with multiple internal and external stakeholders and lead organizational change in a complex healthcare environment.
Ability to define a vision, develop an operating structure, facilitate and guide leaders, individuals and groups towards implementation of the vision.
Knowledge and understanding of the dimensions of diversity and how to build diversity competency in the healthcare context.
Familiarity with current trends, literature and issues relating to diversity and culturally competent care.
Ability to identify opportunities that promote improved diversity-competent care.
Demonstrated competency in healthcare related ethics and diversity areas.
Understanding of the language services (including translation and interpretation) within the healthcare context.
Demonstrated planning, managing, organizational and implementation skills.
Advanced competency in project/program implementation, management and evaluation.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including the ability to speak within public and educational forums and make presentations to groups.
Ability to manage project budgets effectively.
