Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will work closely with ELCAN’s Leadership Team in Midland, Ontario to drive strategy, achieve goals, and deliver growth across the business. Your proven passion and experience leading, mentoring and developing a team is balanced by your demonstrated understanding of operational excellence within the aerospace and defence industry.
Key Responsibilities: Develops and owns tactical operational plans and goals for manufacturing operations including oversight for multiple departments.
Creates and drives a vision for Operational Excellence, with a culture focused on trust, respect, empowerment, and continuous improvement.
Promotes and maintains a safety culture that meets world-class standards.
Responsible for operations planning in supply chain, internal production, and assembly areas to support ultimate on-time delivery for our customers.
Responsible for over 400 assets in a 230,000 square foot facility to ensure we optimize equipment efficiency and create a state-of-the-art facility for the future.
Develops Operations solutions that are innovative and define best practice for the future.
Leads as an advocate and ambassador for the site with critical stakeholders across RTX and with external customers.
Leverages best practices from other RTX Operations sites and industry to guide manufacturing plans/goals for business growth.
Collaborates with Engineering, Digital Technology, and Finance to support Capital planning for operations.
Supports succession planning, organizational and talent development, fostering a culture that attracts and retains talent.
Education & Experience: Previous Operations manufacturing experience required, preferably within precision optics in an aerospace and defence environment.
10+ years in manufacturing management with in-depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing methods, production planning, procurement, and subcontract management.
Bachelor Degree in Engineering or other technical area preferred or equivalent experience.
Strong business and financial acumen.
Demonstrated track record of meeting manufacturing targets.
Functions with a sense of urgency, achieving results while adhering to compliance guidelines.
Experience managing people, developing leaders as well as leading through influence.
Applied knowledge and understanding of sales and operations planning for manufacturing.
Practical understanding of, and interest in, Aerospace and Defence government and commercial electro-optic markets including but not limited to components, subsystems, and products.
Demonstrated experience in developing, deploying, and managing Operations strategies.

Strong communicator at all levels.
A logical problem solver who can distill and simplify complex operational and technical problems.
