JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician (LEVEL 2)
3rd Shift 9pm - 5:30am 65-degree Warehouse Year Round
$32-$35 an hour w/$1.25 Shift Differential
SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician in Tracy, CA. to join our team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible to maintain and repair a variety of production and facility equipment. The Maintenance Technician works from daily job assignments, prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, machine manuals, sketches, and instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to food safety requirements.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety requirements and maintain safety training records.
  • Perform preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on specified equipment.
  • Read and understand maintenance manuals for proper repair and care.
  • Support more senior mechanics in complex repairs or services.
  • Enter time, parts, and follow-ups into CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
  • Stay updated on required training.
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Execute the preventive maintenance program as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Communicate effectively within the maintenance team.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, quality work, dependability, and initiative.
  • Perform regular checks on all building equipment such as sprinkler system, pumps, compressors, and power system as required.
  • Work closely with production personnel or service technicians on equipment repairs.
  • Complete simple fabrication of machine parts as required, and requisition repair parts as needed.
  • Lay out circuits and install electrical wiring systems to handle required loads for various parts of the plant, run lines,
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment breakdowns involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Ability to perform necessary welding
  • Tear down equipment, rebuild and replace defective parts and component units such as: motors, gear boxes, clutches, bearings, and electrical units as needed, reassemble, and make final equipment adjustments.
  • make connections, install proper safety devices and provide for necessary outlets and switches.
  • Install and hook-up production equipment, exercising care as to size of motors voltage requirements, and balance circuits for proper power distribution.
  • Assist outside contractors on on-site projects.
  • Able to work alone and as a team member. Ability to take direction.
  • Follow safety rules, LOTO, and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Support food safety and quality requirements.
  • Basic PLC knowledge and controls troubleshooting.
  • Maintain all equipment, minimizing downtime, and record all activities as required.
  • Read, explain, and understand maintenance manuals for proper repair and care.
  • Identify equipment failures and perform necessary repairs.
  • Provide direction to Level 1 Mechanics on assigned work orders.
  • Coach Level 1 Mechanics on CMMS.
  • Write corrective work orders using the CMMS system.
  • Train and coach Level 1 Mechanics on technical and procedural duties.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform basic machine shop work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. Candidates having taken related courses through technical or trade schools, including in-house training is strongly preferred. Trade school certification in a related field such as Industrial Electronics/Electricians is a plus.
  • Experience required in high-speed packaging equipment, powered and gravity conveyors, high speed gluing applications (air over hydraulic), pneumatics (cylinders, valves, solenoids), frequency drive controllers and motors, case erectors and sealers, laser coding, label printers.
  • Experience required in maintenance inventory, CMMS, and documentation
  • Experience required for using lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinders, hand power tools, micrometers, calipers, forklift, welding equipment (Mig/Oxy Act), measuring tools, and a variety of hand tools. Basic understanding of machining processes.
  • Experience required in basic industrial electrical (480/277 208/120 240v) and troubleshooting PLC and relay logic.
  • Ability to use mathematics together with the analytical use of complicated machine drawings and uses various types of precision measuring instruments such as calipers or micrometers.
  • Must be able to perform on call duty on any shift and work overtime on short notice basis.
  • Continuous standing, walking, and reaching.
  • Intermittent crouching/stooping, pushing/pulling, bending and lifting/lowering.
  • Intermittent lifting of over 50 pounds without assistance or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work in a continuously cool environment.
  • Must be able to work full time on an ongoing basis.
  • Duties are performed with some exposure to noise, lubricants, and chemicals. May also work in areas that are confined, dusty, and dirty or require personal protective equipment.
