Chicago Meat Authority (CMA) is proud to have celebrated 32 years in the food industry. Located in Chicago's historic Stockyards, CMA is a forward thinking processor of value added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on selling the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and Multi-unit regional and national chains up to and including big box stores. In addition, CMA specializes in custom cuts for further processors including but not limited to grinding operations, deli manufacturers, and the prepared entrée market.
CMA is seeking a Building Maintenance Tech to perform routine building maintenance tasks in on or more fields (carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, etc.). This position will perform general cleaning and other tasks as assigned.
What You Get To Do
- Paint, remodel, and refurbish areas as needed (both interior and exterior).
- Repair, maintain/monitor all equipment and amenities.
- Change filters for HVAC as required.
- Remove or rearrange furniture as needed.
- Remove and properly dispose of any applicable materials.
- Change lightbulbs, interior and exterior, as needed.
- Maintain exterior grounds: including snow removal and snow salt spreading, spraying for weeds/pulling weeds, repair sprinklers outdoors, etc.
- Graffiti removal.
- All other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Facility painting and repairs (sinks, toilets, etc.).
- Clean and maintain grounds.
What We Want From You - Must be able to work flexible and overtime hours, including Saturdays.
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to follow oral or written/visual instructions.
- Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated and able to multi-task.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Ability to push/lift up to 75lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend at waist, sit, kneel, climb, walk and crouch as needed.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
- Ability to work around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids and paints.
