HVAC/R Technician
Job Description
The HVAC/R Technician will perform preventive maintenance duties for the University of Tulsa Facilities Management department throughout the University of Tulsa campuses and buildings. The HVAC/R Technician assists with the installation, operation and maintenance of the University's heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems as well as Refrigeration systems. The HVAC technician is responsible for identifying repair and/or replacement needs, then completing installations and repairs. This position also conducts preventative maintenance and upgrades for HVAC & Refrigeration systems and equipment. This position assists associates within and outside of their trade.
Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license required
• EPA/CFC certification
• Completion of HVAC/R program from a valid trade or technical school

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous HVAC/mechanical experience in an institutional or industrial setting such as a large hospital or university preferred.
• Previous experience servicing and maintaining high pressure boilers, variable speed motors, large tonnage centrifugal chillers (800 tons or larger), plate heat exchangers, and water treatment systems preferred.

Physical Demands
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting (up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally), bending (frequently), stooping (occasionally), and lifting overhead (occasionally up to 40 pounds); exposure to disagreeable odors and environmental conditions; ability to see and read; ability to hear and speak in order to receive and convey instructions. Ability to climb ladders up to 10'.
