Job Description

Position Title:  Bridges Foreman

Position Overview:  The Bridges Foreman is responsible for actively participating in and supervising the field crew and subcontractors on structures construction projects. This role requires a focus on safety, efficient project management, adherence to quality standards, and completion of projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Leadership:
  • Model, enforce, and educate the team on safe work practices, company policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct safety analysis for each work activity (e.g., fall protection, manlift usage, excavation support).
  • Ensure proper safety equipment is available and used correctly by all field personnel.
  1. Crew and Equipment Management:
  • Supervise the field crew and subcontractors, adjusting crew size and equipment as needed to achieve cost-effective production based on project estimates.
  • Schedule materials and equipment deliveries promptly to avoid work interruptions.
  • Maintain company-owned equipment, including pick-up trucks and small tools, and minimize costs by effectively managing outside rentals.
  1. Project Scheduling and Coordination:
  • Participate in weekly project schedule meetings and create a look-ahead plan to meet project milestones efficiently.
  • Coordinate with other foremen, team members, contractors, and subcontractors to align on work goals, timelines, and shared resources.
  1. Quality Control and Project Documentation:
  • Ensure each work activity is completed thoroughly and to specification before moving on to the next task.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area at all times.
  • Document any additional work required beyond the initial scope and notify the supervisor.
  • Submit daily reports and paperwork, including timesheets, material and truck tickets, force account information, and daily logs, accurately and on time.
  1. Customer and Team Communication:
  • Communicate regularly with customers to ensure satisfaction with project progress.
  • Work productively and collaboratively with other foremen and employees to achieve project objectives and resolve issues promptly.

Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience in Construction Supervision : Prior experience in a supervisory role within the construction industry, specifically in structures or bridge construction, is essential.
  • Knowledge of Safety Protocols : Proven ability to lead a team in a safe working environment, with hands-on knowledge of required safety practices and equipment.
  • Strong Project Management Skills : Ability to manage schedules, budgets, materials, and personnel efficiently to meet project timelines and budgets.
  • Proficient in Reading Blueprints and Specifications : Understanding of contract drawings and specifications and ability to use these to guide project execution.
  • Effective Communication and Leadership Skills : Ability to communicate clearly with crew, customers, and subcontractors, and to provide training, coaching, and direction to team members.
  • Detail-Oriented with Strong Organizational Skills : Capable of maintaining accurate records, managing documentation, and ensuring that all work areas are clean and orderly.
