Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program. Ensure all employees comply with the policies associated with these programs.nnWork with millwright and maintenance teammates on preventative maintenance repairs, scheduled repair projects and normal production.nnTroubleshoot mechanical problems with ability to assist with unscheduled repairs as needed.nnPerform daily inspections on millwright equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.nnResponsible for the daily operation, production and maintenance of the yard.nnResponsible for assigning duties/breaks/lunches to all hourly and temporary employees in your assigned department to ensure production is not lost.nnAbility to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with yard personnel.nnAbility to perform all jobs associated with the yard as needed.nnEnsure that processed scrap meets specifications for customers.nnWork daily with manager and different departments to provide proper flow of materials to meet production schedules and optimize savings.nnSupervise the placement of scrap into/from inventory piles, inventory control, including raw materials and finished goods.nnPerform other job duties as assigned.nnWhat You'll NeednnMinimum of 1-year previous managerial or supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing environments, preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.nnMinimum 3 years previous experience in an industrial/outdoor work environment and operating heavy equipment.nnAbility to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.nnExcellent administrative and computer skills with strong organization skills and a demonstrated ability to problem-solve.nnAbility to interface effectively with customers and company personnel at all levels.nnExcellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.nnAbility to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.nnStrong mechanical abilities (welding, fabrication, knowledge of tools, etc.).nnAbility to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.nnAbility to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency with the flexibility to work off hours, weekends, and holidays: including overtime and six days a week as required by production.nnAbility to work in extreme heat and be exposed to weather.nnAbility to lift up to 50 poundsnnAbility to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.nnCandidates within 50 miles of location preferred.nnBilingual preferred.nnWhy Nucor?nnAs a Fortune 150 company, Nucor is known for being North Americas leader in designing, manufacturing, and recycling steel and steel products with a history of long-term sustainability and stability.
