POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Winder serve as the technical and manufacturing expert providing guidance and assistance to other technicians in winding area engaged in setup and operation of various machines and equipment associated with manufacturing power transformers. Train employees in work instructions, skills, procedures, methods and techniques to correctly and safely perform all job tasks. Performs direct work demonstrating the ability to perform any of the various operations within the department.
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
• Perform any of the Senior Winder duties and functions as needed.
• Assist with maintaining the workflow and ensure availability of proper materials and tools. Adjust workflow and assignments to meet manufacturing schedules as required.
• Guide, communicate with and coordinate work teams.
• Provide direction to all co-workers when new situations or problems are discovered.
• May determine operation sequences and methods where specifications are imprecise or vague.
• Assist supervisor with analyzing and resolving work problems or assists other technicians in solving problems and implementing corrective actions.
• Coordinate and conduct on-the-job training to assure all employees are properly trained prior to performing work or a job; coordinate cross-training and job rotation schedules with input from the Manufacturing Supervisor or Manager and Manufacturing Control to enhance employee knowledge.
• Confirm quality criteria is properly inspected, verified and documented during manufacturing to ensure product meets specifications, tolerances, prints and customer order requirements. Identify and correct defects appropriately.
• Complete process check sheets, daily manufacturing sheets and ensure other daily reporting and paperwork are completed according to Company procedures.
• Interpret and explain complex prints, specifications and work instructions to other technicians.
• Safely move, handle and store materials without damaging items or property.
• Follow and comply with standard work procedures and sequence of operations to consistently meet manufacturing standards for safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
• Perform TPM and scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and machines.
• Practice 6S and comply with all safety rules, guidelines and safe working practices.
• Safely operate material handling and lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, motorized scissor lifts and work platforms.
• Understand and follow all appropriate Hyosung HICO policy and/or procedure.
• Further the goals and positive, professional image of Hyosung HICO.
• Know Hyosung HICO's Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

THE NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
• Help in the development of training materials.
• Assists with the implementation of quality procedures and 6S initiatives.
• Actively participate in Continuous Improvement and Kaizen activities.
• Support and provide backup for Manufacturing Supervisor to coordinate materials and workflow as necessary.
• Assist other manufacturing areas as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
• Associate degree in technical field or vocational/trade school certification, plus five years' relevant work experience in manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and experience.
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing policies, procedures and practices applicable to power transformer operations.
• Advanced mechanical/technical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience reading manufacturing drawings/specifications, blueprints or work instructions.
• Developed math and geometry skills.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable safety procedures and policies.
• Basic computer skills required, advanced knowledge of Windows applications and/or CNC software.
• Knowledge and use of basic industrial measuring tools.
• Experience using various hand and power tools.
• Developed interpersonal skills including verbal, written and presentation skills.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS OF THE WORKPLACE:
• Ability to perform mechanical assembly, set up and installation.
• Ability to safely and correctly use hand and power tools and measurement devices.
• Ability to work at elevated heights and climb stairs.
• Ability to inspect work.
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Ability to judge the quality of work produced compared to established standards, drawings, and instructions.
• Ability to operate powered equipment, such as fork truck and overhead crane.
• Ability to use a three (3) pound hammer for extended periods.
• Ability to work in normal indoor temperatures.
• Stand and walk minimum 6-8 hours per day.
• Ability to sit, squat, bend, stretch, twist, crawl, kneel, and reach above the shoulders as required to perform essential job functions.
• Ability to work in restricted spaces.
• Ability to climb and work up to 15 feet off the ground for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to perform repetitive movement.
• Ability to use all applicable PPE including but not limited to hard hat, safety toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves.
