Location : Hybrid (2-3 days onsite, EST time zone)
Travel : Up to 25%, including customer locations and Flint Group plants in the U.S.
Direct Manager : Senior Director of Procurement Packaging Inks and Narrow Web
Position Overview:
The Buyer will support the Flint Group's Packaging Inks and Narrow Web business in North America, including the Solvent, Water, and UV Ink business, and will be part of the Global Procurement Team for the Print Supply Platform. The role focuses on managing raw material procurement and executing procurement strategies in alignment with the objectives of Product Development Labs (PDL). The successful candidate will maintain reliable and cost-competitive sources of supply and handle supplier relationships to ensure the continuity of production at the lowest total cost.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate and administer corporate-wide purchasing agreements for assigned raw materials.
- Plan and execute procurement strategies aligned with Product Development Labs (PDL) objectives.
- Manage supplier selection, contract negotiations, pricing, and terms.
- Perform cost/price analysis to ensure competitive pricing and value.
- Resolve quality, delivery, and pricing issues, and negotiate settlements to avoid financial losses.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure material availability at optimal costs.
- Maintain market intelligence and proactively address issues affecting procurement.
- Establish standard production material costs and participate in make-or-buy decisions.
- Maintain long-term relationships with suppliers to support corporate objectives.
Education and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in purchasing, supply chain, or a related field.
- Experience in purchasing raw materials within the chemical industry.
- Knowledge of chemical processes in manufacturing and legal aspects of purchasing.
- Strong problem-solving ability and the capability to perform under stress to ensure production continuity.
- Ability to identify supply problems in advance and mitigate risks.
- Proficiency in cost/price analysis and inventory control methods.
- Familiarity with transportation modes, supply/demand movement, and developing savings opportunities.
Additional Information:
The role requires some travel to Flint Group plants and suppliers within the U.S. (less than 25% of the time).
Hybrid work model with 2-3 days onsite and the rest remote.
