Summary



Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities.

  1. Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
  2. Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
  3. Using computerized tomography equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients' internal organs and tissues.
  4. Performing regular warm-up sequences on the CT scanner to prolong the life of the X-ray tubes.
  5. Evaluating CT scans to determine whether they are of good technical quality.
  6. Analyzing patient histories and completing screenings for metal and devices.
  7. Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  8. Uses AIDET.
  9. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  10. Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
  11. Takes call according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours.
  12. Completes all work before clocking out and leaving.
  13. Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
  14. Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
  15. Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination, documents, and deviation.
  16. Interacts professionally with patient/family, and co-workers.
  17. Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer's instruction.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science or associate degree in radiologic technology. One (1) year of radiologic/CT/MRI experience preferred. Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.


OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Current state of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license. Current BLS certification.
