Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Senior Production Planner to be based out of the New Bedford- Flaherty manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Value Stream Manager, this person will be responsible for planning and scheduling workflow for secondary manufacturing work centers in multiple facilities and locations.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain management and 5 years of production planning experience. Experience in inventory management and capacity planning using JD Edwards (JDE) or other similar ERP systems is required. Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques and visual factory experience is preferred.
What you'll do
- Participate in Monthly SIOP process.
- Perform rough-cut capacity planning on constraint operations.
- Planning and schedule workflow for secondary manufacturing work centers in multiple facilities and locations.
- Validate capacity and materials availability prior to publishing work schedule.
- Publish detailed schedule on all work centers over the lead time horizon.
- Utilize daily production compliance reports for managing daily workloads and communicating manufacturing status.
- Develop expertise in JDE and ensure system planning parameters achieves desired action messages.
- Ensure that customer orders are scheduled in a manner that reduces backorders and meets customer needs.
- Function as the key person to ensure production compliance to schedule using JDE planning system, visual manufacturing techniques, Excel, and Access.
- Enter and maintain all data regarding inventories produced or reconciliations of raw material received.
- Manage material flow for incoming raw and WIP material to support the production schedule.
- Review work center capacity and provide feedback to Manufacturing management as part of the monthly forecasting process.
- Support the Supply Planning with weekly scheduling and monthly forecasting process.
- Routine clerical duties to support department activities.
- Routine administrative duties to support the production facilities.
- Manage special projects and continuous improvement activities.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain management is required.
- 5 years of production planning experience required.
- Experience in inventory management and capacity planning using JD Edwards (JDE) or other similar ERP systems is required.
- Lean manufacturing techniques and visual factory experience is preferred.
- Teamwork, accountability, and a passion for continuous improvement.
- Confidence to be the internal customer advocate.
- Strong computer and mathematical skills; must have at least an intermediate level of knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to create and maintain standard work.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to effectively prioritize tasks and assign responsibilities accordingly.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to drive initiatives.
- Experience in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment.

Within 3 months, you'll:
- Complete your Atkore immersion program.
- Understand Atkore's strategic deployment process and your key metrics.
- Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.
- Gain an understanding of the products and processes.
- Ability to navigate our JDE planning system to perform your tasks.
- Update daily production reports and KPI boards.
Within 6 months, you'll:
- Fully perform the functions of your role.
- Proficient at JDE functionality and querying capabilities.

- Participate in continuous improvement teams, including Kaizens, LDM, and
- Fully understand how you team impact Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Within 12 months, you'll:
- Effectively scheduling the plant to deliver product on-time with compressed lead times.
- Drive Lean Transformation strategy in the factory. Drive and implement projects to improve SQDC.
