Fain Anderson VanDerhoef Rosendahl O'Halloran Spillane PLLC (FAVROS|LAW), a leading Puget Sound litigation firm with offices in Seattle and Tacoma, is seeking qualified appellate attorneys to join our team's growing appellate practice. The appellate team handles both in-house and outside appeals that primarily involve representing healthcare providers in appeals concerning medical malpractice liability. In addition to handling the firm’s and outside appeals, the appellate team provides litigation support and practical guidance by advising trial counsel on and assisting with complex motions, research, and trial advice in high stakes litigation where subsequent appeals are likely.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years’ law firm or equivalent clerkship experience. The ideal candidate will have experience as a judicial clerk, preferably at a federal or state appellate court, along with a completed JD from an accredited law school and outstanding academic credentials in addition to the following:
• Exceptional legal research and writing skills
• Proficient oral communication skills for effective advocacy
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Superb writing skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective client and team interactions
• Ability to analyze complex legal issues
• Familiarity with appellate court procedures and rules a plus, but not absolutely necessary
Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough legal research on complex appellate issues
• Draft persuasive appellate briefs, motions, and legal documents
• Prepare for and participate in appellate court proceedings, including presenting oral arguments and conducting mock oral arguments
• Collaborate closely with partners, associates, and clients to develop effective case strategies and advise on potential and actual appellate issues
• Stay updated on developments in appellate law and procedure
Benefits
We offer a highly competitive base salary starting from $120,000 to $145,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. We provide a comprehensive benefits package including potential for annual bonus, health and dental benefits, parking or commuter benefits, paid time off, and 11 paid holidays per year. Furthermore, employees are eligible for our 401(k) plan with a firm contribution of 7% of salary after one year of employment.
