SummarynnASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Director of Events at the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. Under the direction of the General Manager, the Director of Events primary responsibilities include the following functions in accordance with ASM policies.nnEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesnnHires, trains, and supervises Events department staff.nnSupervises and provides support to the Events department and other departments.nnProvides on-going support and service to existing clients.nnMaintain our brand image and generate positive relations with guests and staff.nnEnsure Event Services departmental expenses and contracted labor involved with all events is submitted timely per each event.nnPlan, organize and assign assignments for the Events DepartmentnnEnsure successful event coordination activities by supervising and training event staff.nnEnsure Event Services departmental expenses and contracted labor involved with all events is submitted timely per each eventnnPrepare estimated annual department budget along with capital requests.nnNegotiate services the facility may be able to provide for events and work closely with GM & Director of Sales & MarketingnnManage, coach and counsel subordinate supervisors who oversee employees in various functions.nnAttend weekly director meetings. Conduct weekly production meetings, to discuss upcoming event procedures, problems, and changes. Develop and maintain a harmonious working relationship with all facility departments.nnCoordinates and conducts pre-con meetings as needed.nnImplement procedures within the department to establish and maintain customer service standards that are designed to ensure a positive and professional image and generate repeat business.nnAssist in the preparation and negotiation of service agreements for event services, event staffing, and other agreements as needed. Review contracts for compliance with event and/or government specifications and suitability for occupancy.nnIdentifies and implements Events goals and objectives.nnRepresents the facility at during all events.nnEnsures successful event coordination between Event Coordinator’s and other departments.nnResearch, reviews, and recommends equipment, materials and supplies required in providing event services and planning.nnCoordinates inside or outside service needs with food and beverage, decorator, and other vendors.nnCoordinates with marketing all media entry into the building before, during or immediately following events.nnCoordinates with all departments as needed to manage eventsnnMaintains the proper image and generates positive public relations with patrons and staff.nnWorks extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.nnMeets with potential clients, advises them on the facility requirements, and negotiates sales of additional services.nnWorks with internal service partners to provide quality service to customers.nnServes as liaison for all facility clients to ensure the highest level of customer service for all external service providers.nnManages meetings, tradeshows, conventions, and conferences contracted at the facility.nnEstablishes new standards of customer service by working with departments in the facility.nnAll other duties as assigned.nnQualificationsnnTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.nnASMGlobal’s policies and applicable laws. Skills and AbilitiesnnExcellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills requirednnAbility to effectively supervise staff and ability to deal effectively with personnel problems; to deal constructively with conflict; to motivate, provide counsel and execute applicable solutions.nnAbility to prioritize multiple projectsnnHigh aptitude for figures and advanced writing skillsnnProfessional presentation, appearance, and work ethicnnExcellent negotiation techniquesnnAbility to anticipate problems and implement immediate corrective action.nnConsiderable knowledge of safety regulations and other federal, state, or local laws and regulations.nnStrong orientation towards hospitality/customer service for entertainment industry.nnExperience with AutoCAD preferred.nnProficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.nnComputer SkillsnnTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of computers.nnMastery knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoints is requirednnCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsnnNo certifications are required.nnOther RequirementsnnAbility to adjust work schedule to coincide with eventsnnAbility to travel requirednnAbility to travel extensively via air and auto requirednnAbility to work irregular hours and some holidays in addition to normal business hoursnnPhysical DemandsnnThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
