ML6 is thrilled to partner with an environmental conservation leader, in a search for a talented Resource Planner, who will be knowledgeable with provincial conservation policies, natural hazards, municipal planning, and the environmental assessment act. What You'll Be Doing
•Provide direction with respect to all Planning Applications, Solicitor's Enquiries, Environmental Assessments, Municipal Drains, and additional proposals. Perform associated field inspections.
•Meet municipal deadlines, legislative timelines, and internal service delivery standards with respect to planning act applications, permit applications, and title requests.
•Attend multi-disciplinary/agency steering committees, council meetings and open houses.
•Assess applications in accordance with Ontario Regulation 41/24 (Prohibited Activities, Exemptions, and Permit Regulations).
•Attend appeals before the Ontario Land Tribunal or cases before the Provincial Courts.
•Conduct investigations, inspections, negotiations and enforcement of Section 28 of the Conservation Authorities Act.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
•Degree in Planning, Geography, Environmental Science or a related discipline, with planning coursework (preferred).
•Ability to interpret earth processes, natural features and land uses from an extensive variety of maps and plans, use of air photos and interpretation in the field. Must be able to read and comprehend technical reports such as Environmental Impact Statements, Stormwater Management Reports, Subwatershed Plans, Geotechnical and Hydrogeological studies.
•A working knowledge of environmental legislation, planning statements and natural hazard technical guidelines
•Current member of Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) or Registered Professional Planner designation or eligibility is considered an asset.
•A strong background and related job experience with the Microsoft Office suite, and use of digital mapping software.
•A valid driver's license.
