POSITION SUMMARY:

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

n- Maintain a safe environment for patients/customers, team members and yourself.
n- Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient by verifying two forms of patient identification on “Every Patient / Every Time”.
n- Perform “time out” process prior to starting any invasive procedure.
n- Adhere to the ALARA principles of radiation safety.
n- Knowledge regarding location of emergency equipment/supplies and how to use such equipment/supplies.
n- Familiar with the Health First Emergency Kardex and responsibilities in relation to specified emergent codes.
n- Responsible for hurricane preparedness and your duties as a Health First associate.
n- Follow Infection Control policies and procedures; practice aseptic and sterile techniques.
n- Effectively document and communicate pertinent and required information.
n- Report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department, fellow associate and management in a timely manner.
n- Accurately complete all required documentation/forms – written/electronic (ex: patient history, pregnancy, IV contrast, procedural consent, MAR, safety portal, medication reconciliation, PACS.
n- Review exam orders from medical charts and/or prescriptions prior to performing an exam.
n- Obtain pertinent patient history from the requisition, the patient, the medical chart or other sources.
n- Perform procedure protocols, produce images consistent with image quality standards and follow all Federal, State and Regional healthcare regulations and adhere to Joint Commission/ACR standards.
n- Properly position patients and uses appropriate technique.
n- Assure that exam rooms are clean, neat, stocked and disinfected; and that equipment is clean, disinfected and ready for the next patient encounter.
n- Follow proper image retrieval and file processes.
n- Participate in quality initiatives and offer suggestions for departmental improvements including departmental protocols, policies, and procedures.
n- Accept additional responsibilities to assist with reaching departmental goals/initiatives.
n- Attend staff meetings/in-services as required. Reads and signs off on all staff meeting minutes as required.
n- Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications that are within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.

Stewardship:
n
n- Utilize supplies/equipment with care in a safe, proficient and cost effective manner.
n- Ensure computer data is appropriately entered for each procedure, – charged completely and appropriately for all procedure(s) performed and supplies used.
n- Demonstrate effective time management skills
n- Complete jobs/tasks in a timely and concise manner.
n- Willingly assist in other areas of the department and hospital or act as a Health First representative when needed to do so.
n- Utilize Kronos time clock system properly; report to work area on time and follow break and lunch policies.
n- Maintain flexibility, adapt to changes in workflow processes and the needs of the Health First organization based upon fluctuations in patient volume.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
n
n- Certified and registered in radiography or radiation therapy by the ARRT – must maintain certification and registration at all times or
n- Certified and registered in nuclear medicine technology by ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) – must maintain certification and registration at all time.
n- Possess a current Florida State License as a General Radiographer.
n- Must either be Crossed-Trained in CT or successfully complete a formal education program CT that meets the ARRT’s structured education requirement and clinical experience requirement.
n- Advanced ARRT (CT) examination obtained within two (2) years of hire/transfer.
n- Prior CT experience preferred.
n- Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
n- Computer-related skills deemed pertinent for optimal technical performance.
n- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
n- Ability to report to department within 30 minutes when on call. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
n- Able to walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout their shift.
n- Able to move, lift, or position patients as required.
n- Able to push wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds.
n- Dependable and flexible in relation to covering required shifts.
n- Able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted, several times per day.
n- Able to wear lead aprons for extended periods of time. MENTAL DEMANDS:
