Job Title: MRI Technologist (Traveler)
Department: Radiology/Imaging
Location: Various facilities (Travel Position)
Reports To: Radiology Manager/Director
Job Summary
The MRI Technologist (Traveler) performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation. This role requires travel to various healthcare facilities, adapting to different settings and teams to meet organizational imaging needs. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, enjoys exploring different healthcare environments, and provides exceptional patient care and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Preparation: Prepare and position patients for MRI exams, ensuring safety and comfort. Explain procedures to patients to alleviate anxiety and answer any questions.
Image Acquisition: Perform MRI scans following standardized protocols and procedures, optimizing image quality and ensuring proper anatomical positioning.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate MRI equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform daily quality checks. Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to all MRI safety protocols, including managing patients with metal implants, monitoring ferromagnetic items, and upholding radiation safety standards.
Documentation & Recordkeeping: Accurately document patient information, exam procedures, and scan results in the electronic health record (EHR) system or Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate image interpretation and high standards of patient care.
Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel between facilities, adapting to varying work environments and protocols. Able to meet the travel requirements and schedule as set by the employer.
Qualifications
Education: Associate's degree or higher in Radiologic Technology or a related field; completion of an accredited MRI program.
Certification: Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in MRI; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist. Experience in multiple facilities or settings is preferred.
Skills:
Strong technical skills and understanding of MRI physics and procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and team interactions.
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility and adaptability to different work settings, schedules, and teams.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, move, or position patients as needed. Ability to stand for extended periods and operate MRI equipment.
