The Senior Writer, Executive Communications will provide high-level strategic writing and editing support for executive leaders within MU Health Care. This role will develop impactful, articulate, and compelling communications that advance the mission, vision, and values of our organization, foster stakeholder engagement and support key organizational initiatives.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Serve as the principal strategist, planner, and writer for internal and external communications for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other executive leaders, as needed. Communications will include, but are not limited to, speeches, reports, presentations, panel discussions, interviews, op-eds, talking points, correspondence, written internal communications, and videos.
Anticipate the CEO's communications needs and recommend strategies proactively in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Align messaging to strategic priorities and corporate marketing and communications priorities.
Vet and recommend engagement opportunities in collaboration with business partners.
Develop objectives and key messages and prepare the CEO for internal and external meetings and events with various audiences, including the media, public, partners, clients, government officials, and internal groups.
Fulfill other writing, copy-editing, proofreading, and editorial duties as needed. Conduct research and incorporate changes, comments, and critiques from multiple reviewers. Analyze service requests, make realistic deadlines for project completion, and complete work on schedule.
Translate complex concepts into clear, compelling language for a variety of audiences.
Use a range of media and communication platforms creatively, including digital, to enhance employee engagement, public relations, and brand awareness.
Maintain familiarity with current topics relevant to health care, higher education, and public policy to ensure well-informed and contextually accurate messaging.
May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, or a related field.
Seven (7) years of professional experience with executive or strategic communications in public relations, corporate communications, government public affairs, or journalism.
Experience with capturing voice and speech writing, supporting a senior executive or government official, and engaging with executives across large organizations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in communications, English, journalism, or a related field.
Experience in healthcare or academic communications.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
