About this role(Candidates can be located in the San Antonio or Austin area) As a
Master Field BAS & IT Solutions Engineer, you will be crucial to ALC's business through the field commissioning of building automation systems created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking for a team member and skilled Field Engineer with expertise in building automation systems, particularly HVAC BAS and integrated solutions, along with a solid understanding of IT principles. This on-site role involves implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting building automation systems while ensuring integration with IT infrastructure. You will work on solving increasingly complex problems and assist in the training and development of less experienced Field Engineers.
Key Responsibilities: Building Automation Systems (BAS) Install and maintain HVAC systems for optimal performance and energy efficiency.
Troubleshoot issues with sensors, controllers, and actuators.
Collaborate with clients to tailor solutions and diagnose BAS issues.
Be familiar with building logic, micro blocks, trends, schedules, and graphics.
IT Knowledge and Integration Design and implement network architecture for seamless IP integration.
Configure and manage IP devices and integrate APIs for enhanced functionality.
Possess knowledge of cloud-based systems and virtual servers.
Electrical Proficiency Strong understanding of electrical systems related to HVAC applications.
Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting HVAC control systems.
Ability to efficiently diagnose electrical and mechanical issues.
Server Setup and Maintenance Set up and maintain servers for building automation applications.
Ensure data integrity and security for all systems and monitor performance.
Offer effective solutions for increasingly complex system issue
Scope Management Assistance Assist in scope planning, execution, and documentation.
Coordinate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
Serve as local contact for technical issues and leader in the field.
Provide turnkey project delivery on small to medium projects.
Communicate and document the status and details of the project for the customer.
Implement time management strategies to ensure customer satisfaction.
Customer Support and Training Provide on-site training and support for clients on building automation systems.
Respond promptly to customer training inquiries.
Support the service operations manager and service account managers in the training and mentoring of field engineers on proper documentation development, field procedures, Smart Building automation, and IT network architecture and associated disciplines.
Complete projects per the contractual requirements within budget, on-time and with a high level of customer satisfaction
Required Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC, or technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in network architecture and administration, IP integration, and server setup.
- Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.
- Valid and current Driver's License and can be insurable by the company's insurance.
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree, associate degree, Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma in HVAC, Controls, or technical field.
- Ability for scheduled travel 35% of the time.
- Experience with building automation software, such as WebCTRL, and installing increasingly complex building automation controls.
- Basic knowledge of navigating and integrating into a variety of building automation systems.
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networks including wireless technology.
- Proficient in designing and managing network infrastructure, integrating IP systems, and configuring servers.
- Good understanding of common HVAC systems such as RTUs, air handlers, VAV boxes, Chillers, Boilers
- Ability to read and understand HVAC mechanical prints
- Ability to check out/commission common HVAC controls devices such as sensors, valves, damper motors, relays.
