Job Description: Operations Manager
SUMMARY
The Clayton is a high end lounge and event space in the downtown Washington D.C. area. The venue and its team work hand in hand with catering partners to provide high end service operations for its nearly 8,500 square foot venue.
The Operations Manager of The Clayton in Chicago shall be responsible for managing the daily operations of The Clayton. Such duties include, but are not limited to, the selection, performance, and development of employees, oversight and management of inventory and ordering as it relates to food, alcohol and operating supplies, assisting in membership recruitment and retention and oversight of event planning and execution. The primary goals of The Operations Manager shall be to take ownership of service standards, minimize employee turnover, maintain a clean and high-quality facility and ensure that members and their guests are satisfied with their experience. The Operations Manager shall report to the General Manager while working hand in hand with the entire Clayton leadership team and ownership.
Responsibilities Include:
General
Communicate consistently and effectively with upper management and ownership on all areas of importance in a timely manner, identifying and escalating any needs to the proper channel.
Take pride in providing a safe, secure environment for all staff, members, guests, and owners. Ensure all necessary legal compliance and safety measures are in place to ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Complete accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is involved in an accident.
Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking appropriate action to turn dissatisfied guests into happy guests.
Personnel
Work alongside management in the hiring, training, and when necessary, progressive discipline of employees.
Create and implement shift schedules and respond to staff needs, requests and complaints.
Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues, develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, progressive discipline, and establishing performance expectations by conducting timely annual and performance reviews.
Maintenance
Help manage the upkeep, maintenance, and cleanliness of all areas of the venue at all times while ensuring items requiring attention are handled quickly and efficiently.
Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensure compliance with operational standards,
company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
Food & Beverage
Maintain professional food and beverage image, facility cleanliness, proper
uniforms, and appearance standards.
Minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.
Estimate food and beverage costs and supervise portion control and quantities of
preparation to minimize waste.
Help maintain an accurate physical and financial inventory of all sellable goods. Be they food, alcohol, or tobacco, etc.
Remain compliant with all required food certifications, uphold all safe serving guidelines.
Learn, operate, and teach Buz Club Software to all service staff for order entry and general club operation.
