Job Description: As a PostgreSQL Database Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our PostgreSQL databases. You will work closely with our development and operations teams to ensure high performance, availability, and security of our database systems.
Key Responsibilities: - Design and Implement Data Models: Develop and optimize data models to support business requirements and ensure data integrity.
- Database Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance, including query performance tuning and indexing.
- Database Maintenance: Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and patching.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
- Security Management: Ensure database security by implementing and maintaining access controls, encryption, and other security measures.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide support for database-related issues, including troubleshooting and resolving performance issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with developers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to meet data requirements and support application development.
Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Engineer or similar role.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database architecture and administration.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database optimization and performance tuning.
- Experience with HA and DR solutions for PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with database security best practices.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
