Field Service Technician Job Description
We are currently seeking a Field Technician. Reporting to the Field Service Manager, or their designate, the successful candidate will perform or supervise various tasks involved with company produced equipment. These are on-water floating units designed for underwater excavation and transport of materials. These units may be produced at multiple locations and company facilities. The equipment may utilize diesel engine, electric motor, or a combination of each as prime movers.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Site Preparation & Assembly for On-Site Launching
- 70-75% Travel
- Dredge or Related Equipment Testing/Start-Up
- Customer Crew Training in Dredge & Related Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Troubleshooting (On-site, or from our facility) for New and Used Company Produced Equipment.
- Inspection/Written Evaluation and Repair of Returned Equipment both On and Off Company Site.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager
When travel is not required, the candidate will assist with in-house tasks as assigned which include but are not limited to:
- New equipment assembly/testing.
- Used equipment inspection/refurbishment.
- Assist with Customer inquiries and troubleshooting.
Manufactured and Purchased Dredge Equipment Systems will involve Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, and Hydraulic disciplines. The ability to utilize hand tools/measuring or testing devices, read and work from equipment prints, pump curves, system schematics, and other written information is required. Proficiency in the written and oral English language is required. Drawings and other written information may be in English or metric units.
This Baltimore based position, requires both domestic and international travel and may require continuous workdays based on customer requirements, extended hours, or varying shifts. The candidate must be self-starter able to work independently to achieve company goals for each project.
Ability to Liaison between the Customer and Ellicott Engineering/Sales and Vendor personnel is a must. Communication utilizing written, verbal, telephone, and other electronic methods is required for both on site project tasks and follow up/expense reports.
The successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license, with a driving record acceptable to Ellicott, be able to rent vehicles for transportation, submit to and pass any standard company drug test or background/credit checks, and be able to responsibly manage company funds that may be required for lodging, transport, meals, and other incidental expenses. The possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid passport/visas is required
