At Akron General, you will work and learn from some of the best caregivers, provide and receive multitudes of support and appreciation, and create the steppingstones toward a rewarding career with one of the world's most respected healthcare organizations.nnComputed tomography (CT) technologists use computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. A CT scan technologist must be able to accurately interpret a physician's scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.nnA caregiver in this position works four 10-hour shifts from 8:30am - 7:00pm or 11:30am - 10:00pm OR three 12-hour shifts from 7:30am - 8:00pm or 9:30am - 10:00pmnnA caregiver who excels in this role will:nnPerform computerized tomography procedures to aid in diagnosing disease or injury.nnSchedule and prepare patients for exams including coordinating procedures with Radiology, nursing units and other departments.nnOversee maintenance of equipment to ensure full calibration and complete functioning.nnMaintain adequate inventory of supplies.nnObserve patients constantly to respond to any adverse reactions to ensure safety.nnKeep abreast of new development in field by attending appropriate meetings/seminars and reviewing current literature.nnWork continually to anticipate and exceed the needs and expectations of customers.nnAssess patients' clinical history and perform exams appropriately by selecting proper settings to correspond to patients' size, shape and clinical historynnSelect proper settings that best demonstrate normal anatomy and pathology and transfer from computer to PACS and/or film.nnUse workstations proficiently to produce quality 3D reconstructions.nnIdentify patients and properly evaluate requisition for exam to be performed.nnIdentify contrast and dosage and load pressure injector using proper settings.nnInject contrast material by intravenous puncture or established intravenous, under the direction of the radiologist.nnEnsure the safety of patients, visitors, co-workers and self, by using appropriate radiation and bloodborne pathogen precautions.nnComply with all Radiology information systems (including PACS) entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply and tracking monitors.nnAssist and support the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect.nnProvide supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures.nnReview images with students on request and provide quarterly evaluations of students to clinical instructions for formal reviews.nnMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:nnGraduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.nnRegistered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.nnCertification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in computed tomography within 24 months.nnCurrent radiology license in the State of Ohio.nnBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).nnPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:nnTwo years of experience in diagnostic radiology in order to be eligible for onsite training in CT scanning.nnOur caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
