Position: Media Buyer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and self-motivated individual to join our marketing team as a Media Buyer. This is a highly visible position in our fast-paced environment with a broad focus on the execution of buying traditional media from strategy to analysis. You’ll use your experienced media buying skills to gain a greater broadcast TV, cable, radio, print and OOH presence for our local, regional and national clients.
Key Functional Areas of Responsibility
- Purchasing traditional media in various markets including planning, negotiation, placement, and reconciliation while adhering to established budgets and timelines
- Effectively and judiciously develop and maintain an optimal media mix for our valued clients
- Cultivate strong working relationships with media representatives and negotiate best rates
- Secure added value, when appropriate, and ensure that schedules air/post accordingly
- Clearly communicate media rationale/math directly to clients based on KPI’s
- Analyze internal and external performance reporting and adjust based on findings
- Develop pre/post buy analysis reporting
- Troubleshoot data discrepancies, tracking issues, etc.
- Monthly media billing and creative traffic reconciliation
- Assist in the research and implementation of new media strategies and platforms
- Identify and keep up with industry trends with respect to both advertising trends as well as client industry trends
- Manage internal media forms, including advertising calendars
- General assistance in building media plans and client facing presentations on occasion
- Working collaboratively with all internal teams to successfully deliver traditional media campaigns - teams include research, digital, social, and SEM/SEO teams
- Training and supporting assistant media buyers and coordinators
Professional Skills & Qualifications
- At least 5 years of media buying experience
- Experience with Freewheel suite of media buying software to include Strata/Eleven
- Experience with Wide Orbit, TapScan, Scarborough, Nielsen, ComScore, Media Monitors, Kantar, Ad Intel as well as attribution models (TVSquared, Cuebiq, Samba, Alphonso, etc.) preferred
- Demonstrable knowledge of the digital media landscape a plus
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite, specifically with high proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to meet quick deadlines
- Good communication (both written and verbal) and people skills
- Working knowledge of direct marketing concepts, terminology, processes and metrics
- BS in Marketing preferred
