Summary

As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for modeling, creating drawings, BOMs, testing, industrializing, and supporting mechanical and electro-mechanical modules, and assemblies for Lancer products and/or associated tooling related to manufacturing. The position requires highly motivated, organized, and self-driven individuals

Essential Functions

· Ability to document all aspects of the mechanical parts and assemblies, and create BOMs

· AC, DC, Main power distribution (panel boards, boxes, and cabinets)

· Electrical boxes, cabinets, user interfaces, and interfacing with printed circuit board designs

· Interface with motors, reduction boxes, and other similar devices

· Modeling of flex and rigid PCBs including volumes and critical part locations

· Experience designing electronic enclosure assemblies in injection molding and sheet metal

· Experience in sheet metal design and manufacturing for parts and assemblies

· Experience designing for manufacturability (DFM) and developing assembly work instructions for low to medium volume products

· Experience with 3D solid modeling for design conceptualization and realization (preferred experience using SolidWorks, AUTOCAD, Creo, or similar mechanical CAD tools)

· Experience supporting design fit check during integration & testing of mechanical, electrical & electronic systems at the module, sub-system & system level

· Working knowledge of wiring diagrams and schematic diagrams

· Working knowledge of design drafting best practices including geometric dimensioning

· Perform dimensional and tolerance analysis as needed

· Good written and verbal communication in English required. Spanish is a plus.

· Ability to write assembly instructions, test procedures, test specifications and test reports

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• BS Engineering with a major in Mechanical Engineering and/or Industrial Engineering. MS is a plus.

• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design can be considered if the person has High School, Technical Degree or Associate Degree in relevant fields

• 2+ years of design experience including electronics, mechatronics, or complex mechanical products

• Mechanical design of electronic cabinets, racks, panels, PCB/A, cable routing, cable bundling and wiring design

· Sheet metal design in SolidWorks, tolerance stack-up/loop analysis

• Knowledge/hands-on experience with software/technical tools

• Strong English communication skills – both written and oral

• Experience working in a project-oriented team

• Ability to prioritize tasks

· Knowledge about mechanical design of refrigerated systems and appliances is a plus

• Can observe and respond to people and situations and interact with others encountered in the course of work.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions if out in the manufacturing site. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.

Physical Demands

Ability to communicate verbally, view security systems, and monitor people entering/exiting the building, sitting, standing, walking, and bending as needed. Using proper lifting technique may be required to lift objects up to 25 lb. with assistance. May have to reach for objects at or above shoulder height. Must be to operate office equipment including computers, copiers, TVs, iPad, and telephones.
