We are seeking a Mechanical Designer , based out of our Toronto or Montreal office.


Reporting to DRA’s Design Office Manager in the Americas, you will be responsible for translating engineering requirements and definitions into practical, fit for purpose drawings, within specified quality and time parameters.


Responsibilities

  • Interprets flow diagrams, design packs or conceptual designs and prepares drawings for a project.
  • Modifies drawings to suit client, engineers and DO management requirements.
  • Drawing integration and interface with the overall design.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk software and workflows.
  • Adhere to drawing office standards and procedures.
  • General understanding of design codes and standards.
  • Awareness of safety in design.
  • Manage and review drawings within the man-hour budget.
  • Produce drawings in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure drawings are delivered within the project schedule.
  • Responsible for reporting on drawing budget over-run.
  • Ensure quality of drawings are of a high standard through the correct usage of software.
  • Produce drawings accurately according to the client, drawing office and applicable standards and codes for the project.
  • Follow specific drawing office quality assurance and procedures.
  • Ensure drawing are self-checked to minimize errors.
  • Correctly interpret instructions from Lead Designer.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with the section leader and project design team to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and schedule.
  • Identify changes and report to Lead Designer.
  • Ensures effective communication on hand-over of drawings and supporting information.
  • Communicates in a respectful and professional manner.


General Requirements

  • 4-6 years related experience
  • Worked within and EPCM/Mining environment
  • Experience in Mechanical & Structural Design
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Software specifically 3D
  • French and English, Spanish would be an asset
