The Retail Store Manager oversees daily operations, coordinates staff, manages inventory, and ensures customer satisfaction in a floral retail environment. Key tasks include but not limited to order processing, floral design, and financial management.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare floral orders.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability of the flower shop.
- Execute marketing campaigns to promote the flower shop and its products.
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock. Responsible for waste management.
- Oversee day to day floral operations including: stocking shelves, placing orders, reviewing invoices, managing floral associates and providing mentoring.
- Create and maintain a visually appealing and welcoming store environment.
- Manage and supervise a team of employees, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Ensure high-quality customer service is provided to all customers.
- Keep the shop clean and tidy at all times (sweep, mop, dust as required).
- Create floral displays, wreaths and bouquets using flowers, plants, dried flowers, wire, tape, and foam — based on either your own designs, from design books or customers' requirements
- Controlling payroll budget and scheduling staff efficiently;
- Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times.
- Must be able to work any and all shifts, working a varied schedule in order to have the best overview of department operations. This means the ability to work weekends & holidays, openings & closings as necessary; including extended hours during the 3 major flower industry holidays: Christmas, Valentines Day and Mother's Day.
- Maintaining Health and Safety Standards as defined under the Health and Safety Act.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role in the flower industry
- Strong knowledge of flowers, plants, and floral design
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of florists; lead by example.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to build relationships with customers
- Experience in inventory management and ordering of supplies
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to create and execute marketing strategies to promote the business
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Bilingual English/French (when applicable)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workplace
