Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly creative and passionate individual to join a dynamic and multi-disciplinary interior design studio as a Senior Designer. The ideal candidate will bring innovative design thinking, leadership skills, and a collaborative spirit to the role, mentoring junior staff and delivering exceptional projects. This position requires a positive attitude, strong problem-solving abilities, and a deep commitment to the craft of interior design.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited institution. Advanced certifications such as NCIDQ, AIA, or LEED® accreditation are a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in interior design or architecture, with a strong portfolio showcasing projects in hospitality, residential, or retail sectors. Experience with hotel guestroom design is required.
  • Expertise in design principles, space planning, FF&E sourcing, and project management.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), SketchUp, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace. Knowledge of Revit, Rhino, Procreate, and analog hand sketching is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively to clients, consultants, and team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Leadership:

  • Lead interior design projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with client needs, project schedules, and budget constraints.
  • Mentor and supervise junior designers and interns, fostering professional growth and skill development.
  • Collaborate directly with studio leadership to develop creative concepts, space planning strategies, and design solutions.

Project Management:

  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Manage project budgets and timelines, identifying scope changes and providing updates to studio leadership.
  • Prepare and present project updates during weekly team meetings.

Design Development:

  • Conduct research to understand the project context, including location, culture, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop design concepts, sketches, and narratives, working collaboratively with the project team through all design phases.
  • Prepare detailed plans, elevations, millwork designs, and FF&E specifications, ensuring compliance with building codes and studio standards.
  • Attend client presentations and lead design reviews as required.

Construction Administration:

  • Provide construction administration support, including site visits, RFI responses, and shop drawing reviews.
  • Address design challenges promptly to maintain project quality and integrity.

Team Collaboration & Studio Initiatives:

  • Contribute to studio growth by participating in the development of standards, workshops, and team-building activities.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, materials, and techniques, sharing knowledge with the team.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to attend evening calls for international projects as needed, with compensatory adjustments to work hours.
  • Active participation in industry events and professional organizations (IIDA, ASID, NEWH, etc.).

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced designer to take on a leadership role in a creative and collaborative environment, contributing to innovative projects that exceed client expectations.
