Position Summary:

Argus Properties is seeking skilled and safety-oriented Class 1 Drivers / Equipment Operators with the versatility to operate a range of heavy equipment. This dynamic role requires adaptability and a proactive approach to supporting our construction sites. Drivers must be comfortable transporting materials, equipment, and supplies while also being prepared to operate various types of heavy equipment such as telehandlers, 5-ton flat decks or tilt-decks, man-lifts, scissor lifts, skid steers, dozers, excavators, and compactors.

You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of materials and equipment to our job sites, contributing directly to the success of our diverse construction projects. Your ability to switch between driving and equipment operation, as required, will ensure smooth operations and the consistent high standards Argus is known for.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate gravel truck, rock truck, and other heavy equipment as required.
  • Conduct thorough pre-use safety inspections and perform preventative maintenance
  • Clean and maintain equipment (interior cab and exterior)
  • Adhere to company health and safety program and OHS regulations.
  • Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules
  • Document and log work and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel receipts.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, etc.).
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions
  • Report defects, accidents or violations


Qualifications:

  • Maintain valid Class 1 driver’s license.
  • Proven work experience as a truck driver
  • Ability to drive long hours.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
  • No recent moving or driving violations
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
  • Excellent physical fitness with ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Good communication skill


Working Conditions:

  • Work will primarily be outdoors on active construction sites in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • You will be required to travel between multiple job sites within the Okanagan region.
  • Flexibility is required to accommodate varying start times and extended hours, depending on project needs.
  • Adherence to strict safety protocols is mandatory at all times.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
  • Frequent physical activities, including lifting, bending, and climbing, as part of equipment maintenance and operation.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • Comfortable working in noisy and dynamic construction environments.
  • Physical fitness and endurance to handle extended shifts when required.
