Facilities Manager / Biotechnology / San Diego, CA
The successful person will be responsible for overseeing the operation, infrastructure, and maintenance of a GMP-compliant facility. This role supports manufacturing and research operations for cell and gene therapy products.
Responsibilities:
- Manage facility maintenance, equipment calibration, and validation of systems to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
- Oversee vendors and service providers, including HVAC, security, pest control, and cleaning services.
- Lead procurement efforts, negotiate contracts, and manage facility-related supplier relationships.
- Collaborate with leadership to drive operational improvements, increase capacity, and meet business objectives.
- Manage facility budgets, track key performance indicators, and produce monthly reports.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in partnership with Quality and Regulatory teams.
- Lead risk mitigation strategies for facility operations, with a focus on safety, quality, and cost.
- Supervise facility design, construction, and qualification activities, ensuring adherence to codes and regulations.
- Oversee environmental monitoring and safety programs.
- Lead and develop the facilities team, fostering growth and training opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Education : Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Experience : 8+ years in biotech manufacturing, with 3+ years in a management role. Experience in cleanrooms is preferred.
- Skills : Strong knowledge of GMP operations, bio-tech infrastructure, equipment validation, capital planning, and project management. Excellent communication, decision-making, and leadership skills.
