Verne is developing a breakthrough hydrogen technology that unlocks maximum energy storage densities. This densification and storage platform lowers the cost of hydrogen, enabling economical hydrogen distribution to decarbonize 25% of US emissions across off-road equipment, heavy-duty transportation, power generation, and more. Verne has made significant strides toward this massive industrial transformation and is conducting demonstration programs for leading industry partners. What you’ll do

As an Operations Associate you will accelerate Verne’s growth by contributing across a diverse set of functions across the company, reporting to Verne’s Business Operations Manager. Candidates who excel in this role will have a unique opportunity to grow alongside the company and take on engaging responsibilities throughout the company. This work will require someone who is a fast learner, a self-starter, and excited to dive into challenging projects across operations, finance, compliance, and more! 


Responsibilities

  • Finance : help analyze Verne’s finances to inform budgeting, project planning, grant reporting, investor reporting, fundraising, and other initiatives
  • Compliance : ensure Verne stays in compliance with state and federal agencies (employment/ financial reporting, insurance, required trainings, etc.)
  • Accounting : manage the monthly book closing process, including management of external accountants, bookkeeping (transaction tagging), report generation, and reviews
  • Operational management : ensure continual functioning and safety of Verne, including managing third-party vendors, stocking key materials/supplies and managing company policies
  • Culture : help lead initiatives to maintain Verne’s culture (planning team events & offsites, celebrating birthdays, preparing internal presentations, ordering team merch, etc.)
  • Research : research key topic areas at Verne including market research, compliance/regulatory research, grant/fundraising research and more
  • Communications : draft marketing copy and correspond with key partners
  • Do whatever it takes to help Verne achieve our milestones, frequently contributing across all of these functions and more (no problem is too big or too small!)


Key qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience (open to new grads!); the ideal candidate will have full-time or internship experience in consulting, finance, startups (operations, business operations, business development) or other relevant roles
  • Experience with finance & financial modelling and proficient in excel
  • Familiar with basic accounting principles and the three financial statements

Compensation and benefits

  • $75,000 – $90,000 plus bonus and equity incentives
