Production Manager

Summary/Objective

The Manufacturing Production Manager will lead a dynamic manufacturing team to achieve operational excellence through strategic manpower planning and a collaborative work environment. This role involves overseeing the complete employee management cycle, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards while providing continuous training. You will monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and manage resources effectively to meet production schedules and customer commitments. Additionally, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement, champion 5S practices, and support safety initiatives, to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Essential Functions:

  • Team Leadership:
  • Generates a shared commitment to the organization, building morale and encouraging ownership of mission, goals, and values.
  • Lead and motivate a manufacturing team by implementing strategic manpower plans and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Oversee the complete talent management cycle, including recruitment, developing talented people, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide continuous training to new and existing team members to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and production standards, aligning with company policies.
  • Organize and facilitate weekly department meetings to discuss challenges, new initiatives, and collective goals, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Production:
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure alignment with production goals, including metrics such as production efficiency, defect rates, and on-time delivery; regularly analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Prioritize and execute tasks to meet production schedules and customer commitments, utilizing the provided production schedule to allocate resources effectively and manage workflow for timely completion of all activities.
  • Align manpower and materials to optimize resource allocation, ensuring staffing levels match production demands and that all necessary materials are available to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Oversee inventory management to ensure adequate supplies for production needs, implementing Kanban systems to visualize inventory levels and manage stock replenishment, along with conducting regular audits to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce waste.
  • Streamline process flow within physical operations and ERP systems by mapping workflows to identify bottlenecks, utilizing ERP functionalities to enhance communication across departments, and ensuring that production processes are efficient and well-documented.
  • Quality and Continuous Improvement:
  • Effectively create a vision for change and engage others to implement the change process.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement within the department, encouraging participation in Kaizen events to drive innovation and enhance processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency, while ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and achieving key performance metrics.
  • Champion and maintain 5S practices to create an organized and efficient work environment, contributing to overall quality and productivity.
  • Execute health and safety programs and enforce critical safety and quality standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices across all operations.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Temperature varies due to the outdoor conditions caused by open doors and garages.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, Flexible schedule required, 40+ hours per week.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a high school education or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of manufacturing experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
  • Ability to read and write in Spanish preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position assists in managing all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management, hiring and training of the employees within the department.
