About the Role
Performs patient scheduling, insurance verification, and collection duties accurately, efficiently, and professionally. Demonstrate professionalism within their communication and interactions with patients and staff. Demonstrate sensitivity to confidential matters, be familiar with medical terminology, and the ability to problem-solve.
Responsibilities
- Report any misconduct, suspicious our unethical activities to the Compliance Officer.
- Greeting Patient(s) / Visitors
- Directing patient(s) to the proper location
- Answering phone / Transferring calls
- Working fax machine / copier / printer
- Scanning of all documents
- Outgoing Referrals to another Dr. office
- Incoming Referral from another Dr. office
- Obtaining Insurance Referral(s)
- Entering / Linking Referrals into Patient Chart
- Updating patient paperwork / consents
- Obtaining photo ID / Insurance Cards
- Collection all pertinent patient demographics
- Updating / Adding Insurance
- Verification of Insurance (System or Call)
- Collecting Money (Copay, deductibles, and previous balance)
- Verification of Insurance (System or Call)
- Collecting Money (Copay, deductibles, and previous balance)
- Posting / Linking Money
- Scheduling Appointments – All types
- Maintain Patient Flow
- Inventory / Supplies
- Updating Referral Doctor List
- Self-Pay patient(s)
- Balancing of daily Money – EOD report
- Prior Day Schedule Worksheet
- Running Reports / Updated spreadsheets
- Printing Medical Records
- Maintaining a neat lobby / office area
- On-line access to Insurance Companies
- Distributing E-mails and Faxes
- Knowledge of billing, insurance, and coding
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: College coursework in the Healthcare field
- Minimum Experience: N/A
- Required Registration / License / Certification: N/A
- Preferred Education: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a Health related field
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Preferred Experience: Prior experience with electronic health records, Prior experience working with insurance companies, 1 to 2 years Healthcare experience, 2 to 3 years Customer service experience
- Preferred Registration / License / Certification: CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)
