Manufacturing Engineer
Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to achieve operational excellence. This role focuses on ensuring product quality, process efficiency, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production goals and continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality.
- Design and implement production layouts, workflows, and equipment to support operational requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address production issues.
- Evaluate and improve production standards using time studies and process flow analysis.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with the quality team to ensure compliance with industry and customer standards.
- Identify and implement cost-saving and productivity improvement opportunities.
- Support new product introduction by designing processes and ensuring smooth integration into production.
- Monitor and maintain production equipment, coordinating repairs and upgrades as needed.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and ergonomic standards.
- Manage engineering changes and ensure accurate documentation updates.
- Work with suppliers to specify and procure equipment and materials.
- Prepare reports and metrics to track process performance and improvements.
- Train production staff on new processes, equipment, and procedures.
- Work in accordance with company’s code of ethics.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be required based on project needs. Approximately 3 times per year.

Maintain confidentiality regarding proprietary company data and processes.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field.
- Proven track record of process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Education and Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred. In lieu of a degree, 5 years of relevant experience is required.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S.
- Experience with production equipment and tools, such as presses, robotics, and/or welding.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of quality systems, including APQP, PPAP, and FMEA.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
