Job Description

Summary Leads the Learning and Development Team and sets the overall Learning Strategy. Will create a leadership development program and be responsible for the organization’s succession plan. Partners with senior leadership to identify, plan, develop and execute leadership development, succession planning, and team member training across the organization.


Essential Functions/Duties

  • Develop a global learning and succession planning strategy for Goodwill Central Florida.
  • Leading Performance: Delivers high-performance results through effective decision-making, planning, and execution to exceed customer expectations.
  • Create a learning and development program to support operations in developing Team Leaders. This learning should include:
  • Process to identify and develop high potentials
  • Onboarding new store leaders for success
  • Ongoing leadership learning
  • Development paths for our retail locations


Responsible for partnering with operations and Senior Leadership on the Succession Plan by:

  • Developing the process and tools
  • Creating and training leaders on the IDP process
  • Responsible for IDP quality review and completion tracking
  • Designs and delivers learning programs and follow up on key outcomes.
  • Supports the development of SOPs and the education throughout the organization.
  • Leads the Engagement Survey Process and follow-up.
  • Creates a coaching culture to support continuous improvement and development.
  • Responsible for the Learning and Development budget and meeting department goals.
  • Lead a high-performance learning team to support the organizations mission.
  • Partner with the Mission Impact leadership to support the mission of the organization.
  • Creates strong evaluation process to continually improve the learning available to team members.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Competencies

  • Advanced facilitation skills
  • Experience developing learning strategies and succession plans
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to adapt to various audiences
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving and skills

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field, preferred
  • Appropriate HR certification(s) preferred.
  • 10+ years of work experience designing, delivering and evaluating learning programs.
  • Previous experience in Operations and/or as a HR Generalist is desirable.


Math Ability Level 3: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; mobile technology; familiarity with learning management systems, databases, and audiovisual equipment (soundboards, projectors, etc.).


Special Conditions of Employment

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  1. Regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds with assistance.
  2. Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  3. Standing and sitting for long periods.
  4. Perform work outside and inside; exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, electricity, noise, fumes and chemicals.
  5. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).


Language Ability Level 5: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication. Ability to present information to groups.


Reasoning Ability Level 5: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


License and Certifications Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record and current private auto insurance policy.
