Position Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Hours/Shift: Onsite
Compensation: Up to $100K + 6% Bonus + Straight OT after 45 hours + $100/month phone stipend
Position Overview
The Quality Engineer will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations and ensuring customer satisfaction by overseeing all aspects of quality control, process improvement, and compliance with ISO/TS guidelines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and a proactive approach to improving quality standards within a high-paced automotive plant environment.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the APQP process for new product launches.
- Lead problem-solving activities, including 8D, ICA/PCA, and continuous improvement efforts to resolve customer concerns and improve quality metrics.
- Develop and maintain operator work instructions, Process FMEAs, and Control Plans for production lines.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and evaluations, ensuring compliance with ISO/TS guidelines.
- Track and analyze quality metrics, including scrap rates, warranty claims (R/1000), plant rejects (PPM), and internal concerns (C/1000).
- Perform and monitor Gage R&R accuracy and monthly capability studies.
- Coordinate customer and supplier containment activities, including issuing Quality Problem Notices (QPNs) and facilitating Return Material Analyses (RMAs).
- Provide onsite support at customer or supplier locations to investigate and resolve quality issues.
- Support Layer Process Audit (LPA) guidelines and maintain quality documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 3+ years of quality engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in an automotive supplier environment, specifically working with Ford and high-volume manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of 8D problem-solving, corrective actions, and quality analysis tools.
- Confident and goal-driven personality with a commitment to professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with APQP, ISO9001/TS16949, Kaizen, 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, and PPAP.
