Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Chandler, AZ
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Process Evaluation & Optimization:
- Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria (e.g., efficiency, speed) and drive continuous improvements.
- Analyze production and machine requirements; recommend and implement process enhancements.
- Develop and test effective automated and manual systems.
- Drive initiatives for automation and digitalization to improve productivity and reduce cycle times.
Build & Test Coordination:
- Lead assembly, integration, and testing of semiconductor equipment, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Organize and manage manufacturing resources (equipment, personnel) for on-time delivery and optimal throughput.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Develop and maintain documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and process specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations.
Design for Manufacturability & Serviceability:
- Review design specifications for manufacturability/serviceability and collaborate on equipment installation.
- Provide input on new product development projects regarding manufacturability and scalability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with R&D, design engineering, QA, production, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Integrate disparate systems (e.g., equipment handling, transport) to streamline workflow and reduce bottlenecks.
Facility & Process Improvement:
- Lead and coordinate manufacturing process improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations, and network performance.
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis:
- Conduct root cause analyses for manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Resolve production issues and delays swiftly, ensuring maximum throughput.
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers, production staff, and contract manufacturers.
- Mentor and coach team members on best practices, safety standards, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Technology Upgrades & Innovation:
- Recommend, implement, and maintain specialized tooling and equipment to support manufacturing processes.
- Upgrade systems and processes with new technology, ensuring alignment with evolving industry trends.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (post-graduate degree preferred).
Experience & Technical Skills:
- 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role.
- Proven track record in the build and test of complex machinery, capital equipment, or semiconductor devices.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design.
- Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and basic familiarity with data analysis tools.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (certifications are a plus).
- Experience working in a cleanroom environment with adherence to cleanroom protocols and safety standards.
Soft Skills & Additional Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Leadership experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers or production teams.
- Project management experience, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness to work late shifts occasionally to support production and testing schedules.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for vendor or customer support, as required.
