Job Summary:

Hamrick's is seeking a dynamic and experienced Home and Gift Buyer to join our merchandising team. This role is crucial to ensuring a well-curated and competitive home goods selection that meets the needs of our customers and supports our business goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail buying and planning, vendor negotiation, trend analysis, and inventory management within the home and gift category.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build category and merchandise strategies which support the company’s growth and promotional goals.
• Run the day-to-day operations of the department including the financial accountability to the Open-to-Buy; accurate forecasting of weekly and monthly sales, implementation of promotional activity and building marketing strategies
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiate pricing, delivery, terms and margin requirements.
• Plan and manage classification assortments across multiple locations, ensuring consistency and variety.
• Optimize sales, inventory levels, and gross profit by analyzing and evaluating current and projected trends.
• Review and analyze sales performance, adjusting strategies to meet sales and margin goals.
• React quickly to changing consumer demands and market trends.
• Collaborate with marketing teams to create impactful promotions and campaigns for the Home and Gift department.
• Travel as needed to attend trade shows, vendor meetings, and store visits.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in retail buying and planning, with a focus on home goods preferred.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency in trend forecasting and financial analysis.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Knowledge of retail merchandising software and systems is a plus.
• Passion for retail and a strong understanding of the Hamrick's customer base.
