Mainframe z/OS System Programmer
The Mainframe z/OS System Programmer will be responsible for supporting and managing the IBM Mainframe system, including the z/OS operating system and related software and subsystems, as well as third-party vendor utilities. This role involves designing, implementing, and integrating complex software in a multi-tiered environment, troubleshooting critical system issues, and recommending system software solutions to meet corporate standards.

This is a Contract to Hire, 100% Remote position.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Designing, implementing, integrating, and providing full support for complex software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment.
- Researching and recommending the appropriate system software to meet corporate standards and objectives for system performance.
- Identifying and solving complex and critical systems related issues to meet the objectives for the corporation.
- Providing input into platform selection, version implementation, software product recommendation, and usage of enhanced functionality.
- Assisting DCS with complex issues in the installation, support, troubleshooting, and repair of data center equipment.
- Communicating with internal and external system users to address concerns and make sure that technical issues are dealt with appropriately.
- Managing ticket queues and handles complex escalated issues.
- Analyzing repeat incident patterns to identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity enhancements.
- Working with vendors to ensure efficient incident resolution.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, Advanced degree preferred.
- Eight to ten (8-10) years of related infrastructure experience required,
- Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
- Proficiency with all aspects of the z/OS operating system as well as administration and support of SMPE, TSO, VSAM file management and JCL.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and will often be a direct liaison with other IS development and infrastructure teams.
- Assembler language programming experience is a plus.
- z/OS Internals experience is a plus.
